Tom Watson serves as the Vice President & Technical Fellow, Powertrain & Vehicle Systems Engineering at Johnson Controls Power Solutions. He is responsible for ensuring alignment of the Power Solutions systems direction with OEM customer powertrain technology and regulatory cycle plans.

In his tenure with Johnson Controls, Mr. Watson has held positions in engineering, technical planning and R&D.

Prior to joining Johnson Controls, Mr. Watson spent two years at ArvinMeritor as Vice President of Engineering and Technical Planning for the Light Vehicle Systems business.

Mr. Watson also spent 18 years at Ford, eight of which were focused on leading global systems integration of hybrid electric and fuel cell vehicles.  He served as Chief Engineer of the 2006MY Ford Focus FCEV and as Hybrid Propulsion System Manager of the 2005MY Ford Escape Hybrid among other positions.

Mr. Watson was named “Engineer of the Year” in 2005 by Design News for his efforts in leading the Escape Hybrid team to deliver best-in-class fuel economy and emissions for an SUV. He has served on various committees and boards throughout his career, and holds multiple patents.

Mr. Watson holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
