Subhash Dhar

Subhash Dhar is an independent consultant; former CEO of XALT Energy, President of Ener-1, Vice- Chairman of EnerDel, Founder, Chairman & CEO Energy Power Systems, Chairman & CEO Envia Systems, CEO Eletra Hybrid Bus, CEO PlasmaDrive, President Ovonic Battery Company and Ovonic Fuel Cell Company.

Mr. Dhar has over thirty-five years of technical, business development and operations leadership experience, with concentration on the automotive, alternative energy and chemical & electrochemical industries. His strengths include developing technologies, team building, execution and delivery of innovative, low-cost energy storage solutions.

In his previous positions, Mr. Dhar collaborated with industry leaders in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific Rim, deploying advanced energy-storage technologies in lithium-ion (Li-ion), nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) and Lead-Acid batteries for electric, micro-hybrid and hybrid-electric vehicles as well as hydrogen-powered fuel cells. Subhash led the group that developed and commercialized the nickel-metal hydride battery technology for the hybrid electric vehicles like Toyota Prius.

Mr. Dhar is the author of more than forty-five industry publications, and co-inventor of over forty-five patents & patent applications in the field of advanced batteries and fuel cell technologies. He has delivered numerous invited keynote addresses at energy and automotive conferences worldwide. Mr. Dhar also served as the founding President of Ovonic Battery Company, which provided battery pack solutions for HEV, EV’s, heavy-duty electric vehicle, and stationary applications.

Mr. Dhar holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Technology, India, and participated in Master studies in Engineering Management at the University of Detroit.
