Sean is a Senior Vice President and Principal with The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc.; a 350-person engineering and environmental sciences consulting firm with 13 offices in Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia.
Sean specializes in the development of infrastructure for “smart mobility.” This includes closed-system test facilities for connected & automated vehicles (CAV). This has included three of the most significant facilities in the Midwest:
- The University of Michigan’s Mcity in Ann Arbor
- The American Center for Mobility located 30 minutes west of Detroit
- The Transportation Research Center located at Honda’s North American test center in Central Ohio.
Sean has been a featured speaker at conferences related to transportation and smart mobility, including:
- 2016 Autonomous Vehicle Test & Development Symposium – Stuttgart, Germany
- 2016 & 2019 Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference (OTEC) – Columbus, Ohio
- 2018 World Autonomous Vehicle Ecosystem (WAVE) Conference – Shanghai, China

Sean has led, and continues to lead, studies and infrastructure development projects for some of the largest developments in downtown Detroit and elsewhere. This role allows Sean to understand both the public and private sectors’ perspectives and goals associated with smart mobility infrastructure investments.
