Senior Director of the North American Automotive business
Sam Abu-Hamdan is a Senior Director of the North American Automotive business at Aras Corporation. Sam and his team are focused on growing and supporting the automotive business as it relates to data management solutions from concept all the way to service in the field.
Sam has obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a PhD from the University of Missouri-Columbia. His studies primary focus was on process automation in manufacturing assembly cells.
Sam has been working in the automotive field since graduating from college over 25 years ago. Started as an engineering product designer working for a startup company then for a Tier 1 supplier, and then moved jobs to a consulting firm to become a product design consultant using finite element analysis to simulate various design and manufacturing challenges. With the advancement in the CAE field in the late 1990, Sam moved to CAD automation and data management processes, which grew over the years into Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), including digital twin and digital thread. Sam currently works for Aras Corporation, the next leader in enterprise Product Lifecycle Management software.
Sam moved to Michigan in 1993 and currently lives in Oxford with his wife and two daughters. During his free time, Sam is actively involved in the Troy Community through Rotary International, where he was the President of the Rotary Club of Troy in 2015-2016 and as Assistant District Governor for Southeast Michigan 2016-2020, and currently he is the Troy Club Foundation Chair. He was also an executive board member of the Troy Youth Assistance organization.
