Richard Doak is an accomplished and highly capable Global Technology Transformation Leader with a wealth of experience driving successful delivery of large transformation programs leveraging technology to solve complex business issues. He is a visionary, innovative technologist, and a recognized local expert in automotive and manufacturing technologies from strategy to delivery with a track record of managing large-scale automotive innovation projects including autonomous, electrification and connected vehicle development, for clients including Ford, Navistar, Aptiv, Visteon, DANA, Nexteer, Voxx Automotive, Stoneridge and American Center for Mobility.

Currently Richard is Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategist with Microsoft, providing visionary leadership to automotive connectivity strategy including product management, R&D, vendor / partner / channel strategy, go-to-market and investment strategy. His team are developing the latest technology solutions and roadmaps with customers and investigating future customer, industry & technology developments, competitive solutions and changes in the marketplace. Richard is also CTO for the American Center for Mobility and scenario-based testing program lead. He has developed and/or validated solutions including ADAS, Connected Vehicles, Functional Safety Mobility, Fleet Management, V2X communications, and Continuous Integration Testing (vHIL / SIL).

Prior to this Richard was Cloud Architect for Ford Motor Company, managing a team of 25 Architects, Engineers and Software Developers in the development of Ford Pass – a Mobility and Telemetry Application – with additional responsibility for Vendor Management. Here he led strategy definition and design of a Next Generation Datacenter, coordinating multiple business units and driving diverse teams to meet strict timelines and achieve deliverables. He also directed development of Automation strategy for next generation agile software development, including vendor selection, operations strategy, cost analysis, and global support.

Previously Richard was Business Manager and Lead Cloud Architect for OST (Open Systems Technologies) where he assisted the CEO and CIO in developing new corporate business plans which aligned internal Business, Application Development and IT Services with go-to-market strategy. He also acted as Chief Architect and Strategist for clients including Ford Motor Company, State of Michigan, VW and Delphi, and developed Bi-Modal IT operations and processes, which deliver operational efficiencies in maintaining legacy systems and core operations while pursuing digital transformation and innovation.
