Director, Technical Programs, Global Ground Vehicle Standards
As Director for Technical Programs at SAE International, Keith Wilson coordinates cooperative research projects and standards activities related to advancing automotive technologies and support for the development of technical standards. Mr. Wilson’s responsibilities include business development initiatives and management of large scale cooperative research projects involving OEMs, suppliers, laboratories, government agencies and academic institutions.
Mr. Wilson is involved in developing innovative business strategies surrounding various vehicle technologies such as advanced driver assistance systems, connected and automated vehicle technology, electro-mobility, EV / Hybrid vehicle charging and lithium ion battery systems. Mr. Wilson’s role at SAE International also includes program management for verification of new industry standards and government / industry cooperative research programs. Mr. Wilson also regularly engages with senior level managers of government agencies (DOE, DOT, NHTSA, EPA, DOD, etc.) to provide research project status reports, build relationships and to discuss research projects and standardization needs.
Prior to joining SAE International, Mr. Wilson has served in automotive engineering and technical leadership positions, including Engineering Group Manager, General Motors Automotive Safety Center. Mr. Wilson managed engineering/technical groups responsible for supporting product litigation activities and product defect investigations. In addition, Mr. Wilson served as Manager, Vehicle Crash Test Operations, for GM Safety and Restraints Center.
Mr. Wilson earned a Master of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from Cleary University and a Degree in Applied Science from Oakland College.
