Dr. Detlef Juerss

Dr. Detlef Juerss is Vice President Engineering & Chief Technology Officer for Adient. He has worked for global seating supplier Adient and its former parent company, Johnson Controls, since 1995. Dr. Juerss is an expert and frequent speaker on future mobility trends, innovation and technology. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Aachen, Germany. He completed his Engineering Degree as Dipl. Ing. from the Technical University of Aachen in 1990.

Prior to joining Adient, he worked as Research Engineer at the Institute of Plastics Processing, Aachen. Dr. Juerss’ career at Adient/Johnson Controls includes the following positions in Europe and North America:

Dr. Juerss was born in Hamburg, Germany and is currently based in

Burscheid, Germany. He has also lived in Aachen, Stuttgart, London, Brussels and in the United States in Michigan and Alabama.
