Vice President and Chief Technology Officer

Craig Balis is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Honeywell Transportation Systems, a position he was appointed to in August 2014.
In this role, Mr. Balis is responsible for integrating product technology and manufacturing process technology, synchronizing these elements from the component level all the way through to customer applications. He will continue to drive engineering excellence and flawless launches. Mr. Balis reports to Olivier Rabiller, president and CEO of Honeywell Transportation Systems.
Prior to this position, Mr. Balis was the vice president of Honeywell Turbo Technologies responsible for its global engineering organization since 2008. In this role, Mr. Balis led the worldwide engineering function serving the company’s global automotive customer base and covering every vehicle segment.
Earlier positions within Honeywell included roles as vice president of Product Development for Passenger Vehicles and as director of Passenger Vehicle Product Line, with responsibility for global product strategy. During this time, he was instrumental in identifying future powertrain trends, defining the company’s turbocharger technology roadmap and driving a range of innovative product platforms for both diesel and gasoline engines.
Prior to joining Honeywell Turbo Technologies in 1997 as the director for Engineering Programs, Mr. Balis spent seven years at Honeywell Aerospace in various engineering positions where he was widely recognized for the development of new patented materials for aircraft turbine engines and for pioneering the use of new reliability management techniques.
He holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Illinois, USA.
