Chris Nevers is Rivian’s Senior Director of Policy. Chris joined Rivian in February of 2020 to help implement the policies needed to expand electrification and Rivian’s role in creating a sustainable future. In addition to overseeing Rivian US policy, Chris is on the Michigan Council on Future Mobility and Electrification and on the Board of Directors for the Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA).
Prior to joining Rivian, Chris was the Vice President of Energy and Environment for the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and the Alliance for Automotive Innovation. Chris has also worked in government (EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality) and industry (over a decade at Chrysler). Whether it be from a manufacturer, government, or trade association standpoint, his focus has been on the environment, electrification, and manufacturing.
Over the past 25 years Chris has both complied with EPA vehicle regulations at a manufacturer and assured manufacturer compliance while at the EPA; written EPA regulation; advocated at the Federal, State, and International levels; calibrated vehicles; served on SAE committees to write EV and PHEV test procedures; and oversaw body-in-white plant vehicle engineering. Chris holds a Master’s in Automotive Engineering from the University of Michigan and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toledo.
