Impact of Automotive Trade Issues in North America and Beyond

Wednesday, August 7  |  2:45 – 4:00 PM

There are many moving pieces on the automotive trade horizon including the United States Mexico Canada Agreement, trade relations with China, and negotiations with Japan, the European Union, and the UK. This panel will examine the impact of the “new NAFTA” (USMCA/CUSMA/TMEC trade deal) on North American supply chains, and will examine automakers’ and suppliers’ strategies to conform with the new rules of origin in the agreement that is scheduled to go into effect in January 2020. The panel will discuss the U.S.-China trade relationship as well as the status of the ongoing United States negotiations with Japan, the European Union, and the UK as these relationships and negotiations pertain to automotive and parts trade.
