Mazda North American Operations
Robert T. Davis is senior vice president special assignments for Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). In his current role, Mr. Davis oversees the company’s recall operations, including Takata-related activities; liaison with regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board; and cybersecurity issues related to in-car connectivity.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Davis most recently served as senior vice president U.S. Operations, responsible for all operational activities including sales, marketing and dealer operations in the United States.
In his nearly 30 years with MNAO, Mr. Davis has held various key management positions in sales, marketing and dealer development. As well as managing the company’s Southeast regional office, he opened Mazda’s Midwest regional office, when the company purchased the last of the private distributorships operating in North America, to create a national sales company.
Additionally, Mr. Davis has held the positions of senior vice president, marketing and product development; and vice president, product strategy and development.
Under Mr. Davis’ direction, Mazda became—and still is – a leader in North American motorsports, participating in the sport at all levels from karting to the highest levels of sports car racing. He also oversaw the creation of the MAZDASPEED Driver Development Ladder, which was the first time a manufacturer had ever charted and supported young drivers as they climb the ladder from amateur to professional road-racing.
Prior to joining Mazda, Mr. Davis worked for Chrysler Motor Corporation in Atlanta, Ga., as district sales manager for the Atlanta zone.
Mr. Davis earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Clemson University and his MBA from Georgia State University.
