Best Enterprise Practices
in the Automotive Industry?
Many companies make the mistake of viewing lean and six sigma
as two unrelated tool kits to be used in isolation on different
problems. Experience has shown that lean cannot bring a process
under statistical control, and six sigma alone cannot dramatically
improve process speed or reduce invested capital. Used together,
lean six sigma complement and reinforce each other. This workshop
will demonstrate the link between variation and flow and will further
show how to define six sigma projects from a value stream perspective.
Speakers in this workshop will emphasize that lean and six sigma
are related parts of a total system and philosophy of management,
and that lean tools and six sigma tools are interrelated and provide
a powerful toolkit in support of the overall system. Best practices
and actual implementations will be the focus of the presentations
from industry OEMs and suppliers. Presentations will cover both
manufacturing and service/transactional case studies recognizing
that lean six sigma is being applied to the entire corporate enterprise.
