The Center for Automotive Research

The Center for Automotive Research, a nonprofit organization, conducts industry research, develops new methodologies, forecasts industry futures, advises on public policy, and sponsors communication forums. CAR staff possesses expertise in manufacturing systems, economics and business policies, transportation systems, supply chain relationships, and general policy assessment. Our research studies investigate how international, federal and local issues influence the industry, and how the industry affects society in such areas as employment, the environment, and the consumer. CAR partners individually and collaboratively with groups from industry, various levels of government, and academia. CAR possesses over 20 years of continuous service in support of its mission.

The Office for the Study of Automotive Transportation, University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute

 

The Office for the Study of Automotive Transportation (OSAT), a unit of the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI), has described and analyzed the automotive industry's current developments and future directions for over 25 years. Its overall objectives are to provide research and analysis, information resources, and communication forums that meet the evolving needs of the global automotive and related industries. In addition, OSAT serves as an interface and resource for industry stakeholders, including manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, labor, scholars, government, the media, and the general public.
