Center for Automotive Research
Advanced Energy Technology Group The Advanced Energy Technology program conducts strategy development and research associated with advanced power technologies, such as battery propulsion, hybrid-electric drive, and fuel cells. This program utilizes collaborative principles to establish joint ventures with industry, academia and government. The group has been instrumental in assisting in the creation and development of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation's NextEnergy Initiative. Current work involves providing the U.S. Army's National Automotive Command strategic guidance and support related to activities with the automotive industry including conducting an assessment and indentifying critical challenges and research issues required to successfully develop and introduce the use of fuel cells into military systems. On-going research in this area includes the Advanced Power Technology Alliance, a program dedicated to building a network across Michigan's companies, colleges, and governmental agencies that are involved in this area and producing forecasts and analysis of advanced power technologies. The State of Michigan, Robert Bosch Corporation, and Alion have been important project sponsors. |
