Economics and Business Group Contribution of the Automotive Industry to the U.S. Economy in 1998: The Nation and Its Fifty States Sponsored by the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers (AAM) and the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers (AIAM), this study estimates the direct and indirect contribution of the Automotive industry to the U.S. economy. Major findings include information on both state and national employment and payroll, as well as indirect economic contribution. The study employed detailed information on payroll, benefits, and other economic activity from all automotive firms operating in the United States.
