Auto Body Consortium
Jay Baron, director

The Auto Body Consortium (ABC) is a membership-based organization focused on developing and deploying manufacturing technologies and competitive techniques for the design, processing, and production of automobile bodies. ABC provides member companies with opportunities for collaborative research among automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), leading suppliers, and the research community to apply generic state-of-the-art solutions to common challenges.

Personnel from CAR and ABC’s member companies jointly prioritize, manage, and conduct research activities, calling upon external research organizations for support. Current research areas target advanced forming technologies, achieving quality closure system performance in automotive bodies through functional build, and advanced math-based technologies to support the industry’s move toward a 12-month car.

ABC is jointly funded by government sources and private industry. ABC will continue to create collaborative projects, while expanding its scope to include broad-interest research funded by internal ABC members and external sources.
