Automotive Communities Program - Wood County, Ohio

Wood County, Ohio is strategically located at the junction of Interstate Highways 75, 80, and 90. This location, and its transportation attributes, coupled with Wood County’s historical linkage to the automotive industry make most of its 5 cities, 19 townships, or 21 villages ideal locations for OEM’s, first, second, or third tier suppliers. With an actual population of only 121,000 but access to 18 million consumers in a two hour drive radius, Wood County, Ohio offers rural amenities in land, labor, and access while providing the “critical mass” of a “virtual” metropolitan area. It contains a four-year university (Bowling Green), a community college (Owens), and a career training center (Penta).

Among the automotive companies that call Wood County home right now are: Johnson Controls, Lear, and Magna in Northwood, Ohio; Pilkington-Libbey Owens Ford in Rossford, Ohio; Ishikawa Gasket, Dowa THT, Dienamic Solutions, Tochigi Fuji, Cooper Engineered Products, Centaur Tool & Die, and Toledo Mold & Die in Bowling Green, Ohio; Daimler Chrysler, Toledo Technologies, and American Steel Treating in Perrysburg Township, Ohio; and The Budd Company in North Baltimore, Ohio. The Wood County Economic Development Commission is poised to be the single source point of contact for finding an optimum industrial site for any auto related manufacturer in any of our business friendly communities.
