Nottawasaga Futures is a community economic development organization servicing the five municipalities of South Simcoe. Located just north of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and south of the City of Barrie, South Simcoe offers a strategic location; access to major Canadian and US markets through key transportation corridors and a diverse, dedicated labour force in excess of 500,000 within a 25 km radius. Home to Honda of Canada Mfg., South Simcoe also features a number of auto parts manufacturers supplying Honda and the nearby plants of Chrysler, Ford, GM & Toyota. Within daily commuting distance are some eight community colleges including Georgian College, home of the Canadian Automotive Institute. The Canadian Automotive Institute offers both a Bachelor of Applied Business in Automotive Management Degree as well as the popular Business Administration-Automotive Marketing Diploma. Over 600 students enrolled in the 2003/2004 diploma and degree programs and enrollment in the 2004/2005 programs are expected to exceed space availability. Interest has never been higher in the automotive educational programs. South Simcoe is also commuting distance to six universities, including the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. The University of Ontario Institute of Technology offers a wide curriculum dedicated to the auto sector. Programs in manufacturing and mechanical engineering and management as well as two innovative mechatronics programs provide highly educated, qualified professionals for our thriving auto sector. Recently established, the South Simcoe Economic Alliance, a partnership of the South Simcoe municipalities and Nottawasaga Futures, offers a one-stop shop for site selection, access to key municipal decision makers and current, accurate information regarding the five municipalities of South Simcoe.
