Senior Vice President, Research Structural Materials
Dr. Martin Jung joined BASF at the polymer research laboratory in Ludwigshafen in 2000. From 2003 to 2005 he served as staff to BASF's Board of Directors.
He then took over responsibility as senior manager for regional marketing and sales for acrylates and superabsorbent in Asia, based in Hong Kong. From 2008 to 2011, he headed the department for marketing of amines in Europe, based in Ludwigshafen. In addition, he headed BASF’s cross divisional team for the development of business with the wind energy industry.
Since January 2012, Dr. Jung has led the global research department for Structural Materials comprising engineering plastics, light weight technology, biopolymers and foams. Additionally, he serves as speaker for BASF’s research and development for the automotive industry. Dr. Jung is a board member of the national research program MAI Carbon, a private public partnership program to foster the development of the carbon fiber composite industry in Germany.
Dr. Jung studied chemistry and mathematics at the University of Heidelberg and at Clermont-Ferrand, France. He received his PhD in polymer chemistry at the Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands.
