Surviving the Skills Shortage: Hiring Strategies and Solutions
Tuesday 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Automotive employers are concerned about a shortage of skilled workers. From highly specialized engineering and technical fields, to skilled trades and production workers, companies are finding they must search extensively to find the right people to fill openings. At the same time, however, millions of Americans are out of work or have dropped out of the labor force completely and labor force participation is declining. Is there really a shortage of skilled automotive employees? How much has job content changed? Does the available labor pool simply lack the right skills and knowledge to work in this industry?
This panel will address the market for skilled workers, the global competition for talent, and highlight human resources best practices that employers, workforce developers and educators can use to sustain and grow their automotive business in North America.
