The Industry, Labor, & Economics Group’s research seeks to develop a better understanding of the connections between the automotive industry, technology, the economy, society, and public policy. ILE researchers cover a wide spectrum of automotive analysis—from employment, talent, skills, and labor issues—to automotive trade, global competitiveness, and development in emerging economies—to quantifying the industry’s economic contribution. The Group’s research areas include automotive business, markets, North American manufacturing footprint, economic contribution, investments, plants, products, people, and communities. ILE is also home to CAR’s Automotive Communities Partnership (ACP), a group that brings together industry, state and local governments, workforce and economic development officials to help increase understanding of the auto industry and sustain and grow automotive communities.
