Automotive Analysis Group
Brett Smith, Group Director
The Automotive Analysis Group (AAG) engages in research that can broadly be described as falling into three
distinct categories: industry analysis, industry structure, and alternative energy policy and powertrain technology.
AAG analyzes a wide range of automotive industry trends, including vehicle sales and production; safety quality;
fuel economy; future vehicle launches; automakers' plans for specific facilities in North America; and vehicle segment
trends. The scope of this research is focused on North America but includes a global perspective. AAG's work pertaining
to automotive industry structure ranges from automaker/supplier relationships, supply chain optimization, industry-wide
collaboration, and the revenue acquisition process to the role private equity firms and other financial institutions play
in the automotive industry. AAG also conducts research in advanced powertrain and energy policy. This work includes
powertrain technology trend assessment, and the role of energy policy in the implementation of powertrain technology.
